Organic Backyard Gardening

Gardening is one of my husband’s hobbies. He does it with gusto. He likes planting and nurturing the plants. He leaves the harvesting to us. He said he feels happy planting and taking care of his plants until they are ready to be harvested.

He started organic gardening in our backyard 10 years ago. Every year, we would harvest more than 30 kilograms of chillies which we give away to family and friends.

My husband usually plants chillies (both hot and sweet), tomatoes, eggplants, spring onions and mint. His favorite is chillies because he uses the chilli shoots or tops to cook chicken stew. The chicken soup when chilli shoots are added tastes very good.

Every time my husband plants the seedlings, they will always be in perfect line formation like soldiers preparing for their military drill and training. He measures the distance between the seedlings. Talk about meticulous gardening! Very precise!

I am sharing some photos of his organic gardening and produce for you.

Whenever I visit our backyard garden to water the plants, I am always reminded of this encouraging Bible verse:

So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.

Galatians 6:9

Here is a video of my sons “selling” the fresh chillies from our garden:
